Grateful for Today

It really helps my days when I am intentional about maintaining a grateful attitude. God instructs that we should give thanks in all things. Even in the darkest of situations, there is something to be grateful for. On the contrary, no matter how wonderful the situation, there is always something that could be complained or griped about. Help me Lord to choose to be grateful and not to complain.

Today--I'm grateful for a restful day yesterday.

I'm grateful for the beautiful picture I found to put above the fireplace. I love it!!

I'm grateful for medicines to help deal with the symptoms of a head cold.

Return to Gratefulness

Well, I was feeling like I was just saying the same things over and over and so I stopped writing my attitude of gratitude posts a few weeks ago. But yesterday, God slapped me in the face and reminded me just how important my attitude is. I've had a difficult week at work...nothing all that wrong....just part of the job. There have been lots of interruptions and lots of headaches to deal with...lots of administrative issues and clients asking questions that seem to need immediate attention but that don't impact "tax season." Well, somewhere I got myself derailed in my attitude and have allowed all this junk to get me down and out. One day I really struggled to even go to work. Another time someone was teasing and asked me to name my office and I replied, "The dungeon!" My partner calls his office the "Ivory Tower" because his office is large and a bit removed from the main activity. My office, which I really do love, is just inside the front door and is really the best place for me to do my job, because I am accessible to the main hub of activity. My partner and I have met several times this week about various issues and another day, when I was going to him yet again with problems that needed attention, I sarcastically announced, "I know you are as tired of me as I am of you."

So yesterday--all of a sudden I realized just how negative I've been for these last several days. God whispered.....THAT's not an attitude of gratitude. So this is confession and repentance time. I did go to my partner and told him that I was sorry for having such a negative attitude and I will not refer to my office as a dungeon again. In all honesty, it is more of a haven.

God has been VERY good to me. especially in my career and job. Even with all of the hassles of this week, it is a wonderful place to work and I am very grateful for it.

So now, God, thank you for a wonderful job and for your forgiveness. Help me always display a cheerful, wonderful attitude.

Today, I'm grateful for the strength and skills of my sons.

Jonathan found himself with some extra time this week and has been a tremendous help these last few days. I'm praying God will bless his efforts and provide him with a wonderful job really soon. But it sure was great to have him available to help.

Stephen has helped when he had time as well. He's been a life saver as well. I expect he may be called on for a few more small jobs in the near future as the dust all settles.

Rusty has been really busy with his job and hasn't had a chance to help yet. He has plans to come Saturday morning to help with some of the electronic connections and whatever else is needed at the time. His sweet wife will come too. I'm counting on her to help me decorate and shop for a few special touch items we'll need as we settle into our new home.

I'm thankful for accomplishing something yesterday! I got the web page updates completed for work. It wasn't all that difficult once I just did it. However, much of the info was really not available until recently.

Also glad to be Almost through with annual computer check and install.

Other things I'm thankful for is my family--you just can't be thankful enough for them.

And I'm thankful for my new house.....It won't be long now.

Monday, January 11, 2010

I'm grateful that God loves me and accepts me just the way I am....all warts included! I'm also glad He challenges me to become a better ME every day.

I'm grateful for indoor water and plumbing. There's really not much like having to do without for a brief time to appreciate the little things. We discovered yesterday morning that we had a major water leak--probably a broken pipe from the subfreezing temps of late. Been a long time since we've had any plumbing problems. So we quickly took showers and ran up a bit of water and turned it off. Hoping to get a plumber to get it fixed today.

I'm grateful for some financial blessings from God lately.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

I am thankful today that I was included on the wedding caterer taste testing. It was great food! I think the reception will be very nice. I'm so very excited about the upcoming wedding of my second son. They make a great couple.

I'm thankful that I have decided in my mind what I want to do on the new home repairs before we move into it. Several different people offered ideas, but you know I have to do what I can. I'm sticking to my guns. There are other things that could be done....but I hope to live there forever so there's time for those things later.

I'm thankful and excited that we may get to start moving in on next Friday! Woo Hoo!!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

So thankful for my sister's hard work on the Hughes Springs public library. I'm proud to be her sister. And I'm glad she needs to come my direction to pick up a book drop. That means I get to see her!

Thankful for shelter in these days of bitter cold! Looking forward to temps getting above freezing today and then to climb a bit higher each day over the next few days.

Thankful for my laptop. I really enjoy using it!

Today, I'm thankful for a warm snuggie and my working heater in the house and car.....IT's COLD and going to get colder!

I'm thankful for my employer's tender heart. He had to let someone go yesterday and as he spoke to her, tears came to his eyes. It was the right thing to do, but I'm glad it was a difficult thing for him to do.

I'm thankful for the low interest rate we've been able to get on our new house. We locked in at 4.875% yesterday. Glad to have a great mortgage banker too!! If anyone in the North Dallas area needs help with a home mortgage, I've got the person for you.

Thankfuls

Family
We're not perfect and there will always be disagreements and rough edges to rub off, but I am thankful for family. It's really hard to explain....sometimes you can get so very frustrated by family members and wonder why you keep trying with them. And there certainly are family members that you would not be friends with if you weren't related to them. But deep down there is a connection that runs so deep that you just can't keep from being drawn to them. Love to all who include me as FAMILY!

Pets
My furry friends are such a pleasure most of the time. They are entertaining and such fun to watch and play with. So thankful for Panther, Little Bit, and Sam.

Home
As ready as I am for my new house--right now this old house is still my home; and it sure was good to get HOME last night. I love having my bed to sleep in. There's nothing like a day or two away from home to make you appreciate it. I think perhaps HOME is more a state of mind than a location.
